Same sex Marriage Proposal in Santorini

Planning a same-sex marriage proposal in Santorini, far away from your home, can be a challenging journey. But there is a reason that every year couples travel from all over the world to get engaged in Santorini. From the cinematic Blue Domes to the private panoramic balconies and atmospheric views of the ocean, Santorini island is truly the most romantic destination in the world. In this proposal blog post, I can’t wait to introduce you a cute same sex couple that made it. She said yes and now the beautiful couple is getting ready to say I do soon!

THE BRIEF STORY OF THIS BREATHTAKING PROPOSAL

Michael got in touch with us one day unexpectedly via phone and he said that he was coming to Santorini with his partner Eddie on a Gay Cruise and that he was looking to plan a wedding proposal, Of course we got into details right away and we started exchanging information, Soon enough we got all the details via email and the Santorini Proposal Package was choosen! Michael wanted the Starting Proposal Package without the Videographer and that’s what we delivered!

We picked up the couple from Fire port, where the cruise ship was doc for a two hour Santorini Photo Tour, At least that’s what we’d told Eddie by then! We started in Oia village where the proposal took place and then we drove to Imerovigli to continue with Engagement Pictures! We had the Champagne poped and the mood got even more exciting! After the sun was down we drove the couple to their restaurant and we let the night roll from there!

Couple Introduction

Jamie and Melanie met almost two years ago, and it was love at first sight. They met at a coffee shop and ended up talking for almost three hours! They have been in love ever since. Jamie loves musical theatre and works with children. Melanie received her law degree and works as a consultant helping American Indian Tribes complete affordable housing projects on their reservations. They were both very excited to be able to see the beautiful island of Santorini and spend a few days exploring its wonderful views and culture.

But Jamie had no clue that Melanie was planning to pop the question during their stay in the island.  And I had the pleasure to be part of this moment as their photographer. In the meanwhile, I would like to put off some weight from your shoulders by providing some suggestions from my experience and expertise in this kind of photoshoots.

Be unique and go beyond the ordinary

While exploring the online galleries of the local photographers in Santorini, you will quickly notice that all the proposal photos look alike. They are fantastic, but they lack inspiration and they all follow the same ordinary concepts. Kneeling down on whitewashed rooftops or asking for marriage on Blue Domes are some of the most popular recommendations of where to pop the question in Santorini. To avoid any misunderstanding, these are all amazing places to visit. They are also awe spots to take pictures. I have been there several times and photographed lots of marriage proposals. The views are beyond stunning and everything is magical. However, I strongly believe that every proposal must be unique, especially if you want to put all the unique details of your relationship into it.

Find a quiet, isolated place

Santorini is an island with endless photogenic spots. Thus, there is no reason to stick with the few most popular landmarks. If you want your other significant to feel unique, you would be better off to plan something unique and pop the question away from the tourist crowds. An isolated, quiet beach is a very good option for people seeking privacy and silence. I was very happy to help Melanie not just organizing a proposal photographer, but to provide also samples and different options for her upcoming proposal. We ended up to an afternoon horse riding followed by an epic same sex sunset beach proposal. The team of Santorini Horse Riding arranged a table and chairs set up for the couple as well as a fantastic dinner with healthy local food, Vinsanto wine and delicious desserts, all next to the calm ocean.

She said yes in Santorini

As the sun was coming down, the setting was ready, and the beautiful couple arrived riding the impressive horses. Jamie was clueless about the proposal. She thought that the beautiful proposal setting they found by chance had been there for someone else proposal. She started taking pictures of the spot looking around curiously for the just engaged couple. Then, all of a sudden, Melanie got down on one knee and hold out the engagement ring. Jaime said yes without a moment’s hesitation  and a May wedding date’s been set in stone.
