Getting to Santorini, and When to Come
You can reach Santorini by ferry from Athens, which takes around nine hours and costs from about €45, or by plane, from around €70. Both run far more frequently in the summer season.
The climate is typically Mediterranean, with mild rainy winters and warm sunny summers. In the warm season, from May onwards, the Cyclades are affected by the Meltemi — a wind that blows persistently from the north for a few days at a time. It makes the air feel cooler than it is, which is welcome in August, but it can also make the sea rough and it is worth planning around for an outdoor ceremony.
Summer, from June to mid-September, is warm and sunny, and the wind almost always makes the heat bearable. Spring, from mid-March to May, is mild and becomes progressively more stable. Autumn is warm and sunny at first, then the rains arrive and become more frequent week by week.

Rain is concentrated between October and March. It rains very rarely from April to September, and almost never in June, July and August.
