The short answer
The best time to get married in Santorini is May, June, September or early October — warm, dry and less crowded than high summer. The season runs April to October; July and August are hottest and busiest. Whatever the month, we advise a ceremony about an hour before sunset.

April & May
The island wakes up
Wildflowers, mild days from 19 to 22 °C, and venues with real availability. May is warm enough for an outdoor ceremony almost every day, and the light is soft for photography. Prices and crowds are both gentler than high summer.
June
The first-choice month
Highs around 27 °C, the sea warm enough to swim, and virtually no chance of rain. June sunset ceremonies are the most requested dates we have — if you want one, book early.
July & August
Hot, busy, glorious
The clearest skies and the liveliest island — but midday heat around 28 °C and peak-season crowds. We plan these weddings around the evening: a ceremony an hour before sunset, dinner after dark.
September & October
The golden autumn
September keeps summer's warmth (around 26 °C) with fewer visitors; October is mild at 22 °C and the sea is still 21 °C. The caldera sunsets get their deepest colours in autumn.
November to March
The quiet season
Cooler days between 14 and 19 °C and most rain falls in these months. Some venues close, but for a couple who want the island to themselves — and dramatic winter light — a wedding is still possible.

What is the best month to get married in Santorini?
May, June, September and early October are the sweet spot: warm, dry weather, comfortable temperatures for a ceremony, and the island less crowded than in July and August. June and September sunset slots at the caldera venues are the first to book out.
Is it too hot to get married in Santorini in July or August?
It can be very hot in the middle of the day — highs around 27–28 °C with strong sun — which is why we advise against midday ceremonies in June, July and August. A ceremony an hour before sunset avoids the heat and gives you the island's famous golden light for photos.
Does it rain in Santorini during wedding season?
Hardly at all. From June to August rain is close to zero — a millimetre or two across the whole month — and even May and September average only around 15 mm. The wet months are November to February, outside the wedding season.
What time of day should the ceremony be?
We usually advise booking the ceremony one hour before sunset, so you can enjoy a sunset photo shoot right after. The exact slot also depends on the venue's availability and, for civil weddings, the registrar's time slots.
What time is sunset in Santorini?
Mid-June sunset is around 20:37, mid-September around 19:27, and mid-December around 17:04 (local Greek time). For a sunset ceremony we book the slot about an hour earlier — the golden hour — so the vows finish as the sun reaches the caldera horizon.
How far ahead should we book?
Santorini is a very popular wedding destination and the available days go fast. Book as soon as you have a date in mind — caldera venues for 2026 and 2027 are already filling.
